Enzo’s Monday Motion #168: Festival Titles
The music festival season is around the corner. I take a look at their little cousin which focuses on (motion) design. Five festival promos which are a feast on itself.
Slack Frontiers conference
The Software giant’s annual conference explores the future of work. Giant Ant brief was to translate the theme Frontiers of Possible.
Director Jay Grandin started off with a clean version of the logo, using the colour palette for the rest of the video. The video embeds the power of the software: when many harmonize their process and work, the possibilities are infinite.
Digital Design Days Geneva
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.
Filipe Carvalho and The Joelsons delivered a filmic title sequence which feels dark and intriguing at the same time. The (repetitive) shots look high end, but the digital distortion feels a bit cheap and unnecessary. Curious what this vibe did to the ticket sales.
Surface: Street Art & graffiti
We return to the streets for the exhibition of Danish photographer Søren Solkær,
Copenhagen-based motion design studio Frame delivered the video from concept to post. They embed Solkær’s photography with 2D and 3D designs emphasising the raw vibe of the streets.
Spring 2019 Apple Event
Like Slack, the people from Palo Alto organise their own events. This year’s spring edition is all about the tools.
The video feels like an homage to title design God Saul Bass (Vertigo, Anatomy of a Murder). The link to this keynote is the announcement of their own Netflix version called Apple TV+.
The Australian motion festival of 2018 was all about Explore, Connect, and Create.
Director Scott Geersen and the crew at Substance took their inspiration from the gaming industry. Following an explorer (that easily could be a relative of Assassin’s Creed) they weave together the three cores of the festival.
Continue the festival season with the previous edition.
If university taught through explanation videos, I would be a student for life! Watch and learn about subjects from space sex to surfing.
