Enzo’s Monday Motion #114: 2017 Shorts

There’s no better time for movies, than the cold and dark winter season. After Xmas Countdown follows my other tradition: the best shorts of the year.

Less than Human

Don’t be so prejudiced. Even Zombies have inner struggles and experience emotional rollercoasters. Denmark-based studio The Animation Workshop created this docu-style animated short where humans appear more heartless than the garlic fearing species.

A Short Short

Too many end-of-the-year deadlines, not enough time for now? Enjoy this short short filled with beautiful transitions. Designed and animated by Tyler Morgan and Sarah Beth Hulver.

Perfect Propaganda

Apple approached Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry to create a short using only an iPhone 7 Plus. A tiny tricycle goes on a quest after it fell of the family van. See how Gondry smartly blended the new features of the phone like depth of field, animation and underwater. Produced by Partizan.

Houston, we have a problem

Astronaut Dave isn’t too pleased about his new co-pilot: a genetically-engineered intelligent melon. The style is as strange as the story. Enjoy this hilarious ode to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Triple Long Trailers

To hype the sequel of Blade Runner, director Denis Villeneuve asked three colleagues to fill in the time gap between the two films. Ridley Scott’s son Luke kicks of the short trilogy starring Jared Leto. The three shorts can be seen separately. If you’re more into Manga I suggest to watch the third and final short directed by Shinichiro Watanabe.

See you Next year

That’s it for this year! In case you crave for motion check out last year’s short edition or pick one of the other 112 editions. Enjoy the holidays and see you in 2018.
